New York City company spends week in the Tetons, August 4 through 8

This summer, Jackson residents and visitors have an extra chance to see one of the world’s most renowned ballet companies perform at the Center for the Arts.

New York City Ballet Moves, a group of the company’s principal and corps dancers, performs four times this summer on the Center Stage, offering two different shows.

The company will be in residence August 4 through 8 in Jackson. They will offer several master classes, open rehearsals and performances.

Last year, the first time the New York company traveled to Jackson Hole, almost every performance sold out, prompting an additional show this summer. The two different programs the company will present will offer people a chance to see more of the company’s works, said Babs Case, artistic director at Dancers’ Workshop. The dances offer a range in styles, as well.

Tickets for the shows range from $35 to $200 depending on the performance and seats.

“One of DW’s major goals and missions is to keep performances accessible to everyone,” Case said.

Tickets can be purchased at the Center for the Arts box office or online at jhcenterforthearts.org.

The chance to see New York City Ballet dancers outside of the Big Apple is a rare opportunity, said Alissa Davies, marketing director at Dancers’ Workshop. Jackson and Vail, Colorado, are the only two places the company will travel to this summer.
